Is Dawah Obligation Upon All Muslims?
I have a question regarding our talk about the Dawah. Is the Dawah considered Fard Ayn or Fard Kifayah?
This question needs to be explained in English so the listeners will know what you mean. He's asking is the invitation to Islam (the propagation of Islam and invitation) is something that's an obligation on every single Muslim or just on Muslims in general to the extent that, at least somebody is out doing the job, and both are true.
There is an invitation to Islam that every Muslim has to give himself and to his relatives and those close to him or her.
At the same time though, there is a bigger kind of Dawah which is when Muslims go out to propagate or defend Islam in Jihad, is also called a form of Dawah. This is Fard Kifayah, which means that as long as somebody is doing it then those who are not able to do so are not responsible, then they won't be asked about it on the Day of Judgment. So does it make sense?
