Speed 1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t buy from this company - got ripped off. Don’t let it happen to you!!!One was great and the other 15 months older and half discharged. It recharged after installing and both seem OK but I exspect the older one to die a year sooner that the fresher one. You only need it if the power goes out but they seem to last 3-5 years. Please note that this battery is not a compatible replacement for a Liftmaster 475LM battery backup system although the specifications say that it is. The reason is that there is no way to buy the wires which attach the battery to the control board. I talked with LIftmaster directly and a local Liftmaster rep who said the batteries should have been hardwired in some way and they suggested the model 475LM is not meant to have the batteries replaced because they do not sell the wires (harness kit) you need to attach the battery. It is possible that the newer 475LM systems have replacement wires included. But for me, I will have to sink more money in to just buy a whole new battery backup system. Better luck to all of you 475LM model owners.Connections and fit were exactly the same as older battery. Immediately started charging after powering up garage door opener. No more beeping as a reminder to change battery. Used in LiftMaster model 8550. Exact replacement product.Battery and package were covered in some kind of dust. I expected a new clean item. While this probably wasn't used, it did appear to be quite old, not recently manufactured, and had been sitting on the shelf for a long time. Seems fine, and does appear to be working after installation, but not a great experience.
I think it's worth the extra money for the peace of mind that brings. Don't play games with an expensive garage door system. That threw up a red flag----maybe the voltage was correct, or maybe it was enough to get the job done----but would there be a greater chance of the battery leaking. Or would it not last as long. I don't know and I didn't want to take the risk. Oh, and I'm a klutz with tools----but this was about the easiest task for home maintenance that I've ever taken on. It was about the same as changing a light bulb----with just a couple very easy, self explanatory connections to make. Took about 5 minutes, if that. When the alarm started sounding that my back-up battery was dead, I called the garage door company and left a message. They didn't return my call and in the meantime, I found this part on Amazon and ordered it.First I spoke to the company who installed the opener. I received that batteries in days and installed in 10 minutes.Bon produit mais cher.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. LiftMaster motors will not operate when something obstructs the infrared beam between the safety sensors at the bottom of the garage door tracks. An open door will not close if the infrared beam is broken. The main light will blink 10 times, indicating a problem. The LED on the motor will also blink and serves as a diagnostic tool for troubleshooting. Some LiftMaster motors have the button hidden behind the lens cover. Press the tabs of the lens cover with your fingers, and allow the cover to hang by its lower tabs. This is an indication of an open wire, usually due to a staple. Look at each staple that secures the wire to the wall or ceiling. Pull out staples that appear to go through the wire instead of around it with a pair of pliers.
This is an indication that the black and white wires are reversed in the quick-connect or there is a short in the low-voltage wire. The white wires for both sensors should be together in one quick-connect terminal and the black wires should be together in another quick-connect terminal. If the wires are connected correctly, there is a short in the wire, requiring replacement of the low-voltage wire. This is an indication of a short door control wire or bad door control. If the wires appear good, remove the screw securing the door control to the wall with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Loosen the two terminal screws on the back, and pull the two wires off the terminals. Touch the wires together. If the door operates, replace the door control. If the door does not operate, replace the door control wires. This is an indication of misaligned sensors. Loosen the wing nut securing the sensors and realign until the lights on the sensors illuminate. Tighten the wing nuts once sensors are aligned. This usually involves replacing a sensor or the logic board of the unit. Show Comments. Also some Craftsman garage door opener models. TO PROGRAM THE TRAVEL LIMITS: Adjust the position of the door by using the black and purple buttons. Black moves the door up (open), and purple moves the door down (close). Start your programming with the door in the closed position. SETTING THE UP POSITION: Press and hold the black button until the yellow indicator light begins to flash slowly then release. Press and hold the black button until the door reches the desired up (open) position. Push the remote control or wall control. This sets the up (open) limit and begins closing the door. When the door begins to move down, immediately press and release either the black or purple button. This will stop the door. SETTING THE DOWN POSITION: Press and hold the purple button until the door reaches the desired down (close) position.
Once the door is closed, if there appears to be too much pressure on the door, you may toggle the door back and forth using the black and purple buttons to reach the desired close position. Push the remote control or the wall control button. This sets the down (close) limit and should bring the door to the open position. If the door is not stopping where you would like it, repeat these steps and program the limits again. Also consider re-setting the force adjustments. Search Here. So this winter when I started having trouble with my door opener I was a bit puzzled and frustrated. However, as you’ll learn below the solution to this problem was extremely easy to fix and something you should know for the future. The Problem: The door would always open fine but then would have trouble closing. Sometimes it would close part way before stopping and reversing and other times it wouldn’t open at all. Another clue to the mystery was if you held the wall switch the door would completely close. However, the remote would not be able to close the door even if you held the button. Each time the door was having trouble I’d get out of my truck and check to be sure the path between the sensors was all clear. Each time I’d discover nothing in the way so I figured the sensors were fine. Adjusting Reversing Sensors In order for the safety reversing sensors to work properly they must be aligned correctly. The following comes from the User’s manual: ALIGNING THE SAFETY REVERSING SENSORS Plug in the opener. The indicator lights in both the sending and receiving eyes will glow steadily if wiring connections and alignment are correct. The sending eye amber indicator light will glow regardless of alignment or obstruction.
If the green indicator light in the receiving eye is off, dim, or flickering (and the invisible light beam path is not obstructed), alignment is required. Loosen the sending eye wing nut and readjust, aiming directly at the receiving eye. Lock in place. Loosen the receiving eye wing nut and adjust sensor until it receives the sender’s beam. When the green indicator light glows steadily, tighten the wing nut. So there you have it. If your garage door opens ok but won’t close then it’s possible the safety reversing sensors are not correctly aligned. Don’t just assume that if the path is clear that the sensors are ok. This problem bugged me for several months. Hopefully after you read this you won’t have the same problem in the future. I bought my house about 6 years ago and the garage opener worked flawlessly until last week, when it stopped closing correctly. I figured it had to be the sensors but had absolutely no idea how to adjust them (eyeballing was doing nothing). Cheers, James Reply Todd says: August 18, 2012 at 7:50 pm Thank You. Took 2 minutes to fix. Reply Paul says: October 28, 2012 at 5:21 pm Thanks for the info. I had the same problem. I adjusted the force screws, which did not help. After reading the info you posted, I checked the indicator lights.
One of them was disconnected. Thank you very much. Reply Lorne says: February 27, 2013 at 7:45 pm Worked great, but watch for corrosion in the wire to the sensors. The wall unit will close the door. I have a solid green and a solid amber light on the sensors. If I manually close the door, and quickly run to the door and obstruct the sensor, the door will immediately go back up. So, it seems to me both sensors are working properly. If I put my hand between the sensors, the green sensor will go dark. So, again, I think the sensors are ok. Anything else? Thanks! Reply Todd Fratzel says: August 20, 2015 at 9:12 am Does it start to close at all. Reply Gary D. Currington says: September 9, 2015 at 4:53 pm No, the door does not start to close at all. The remote will open the door, not close. Sensors are OK, both lights are green and are steady. Have you adjusted the setting on it for how much pressure makes it reverse. Reply Gary D. Currington says: September 11, 2015 at 11:50 am No. What setting would that be. Please note the door will operate with the wall mounted button. Todd Fratzel says: September 13, 2015 at 7:40 am Most liftmasters have a dial on the motor housing that adjusts the setting that engages the safety opening. Jim says: November 18, 2016 at 7:58 pm I ran into problems when I put in an LED bulb into the lift unit. It transmits radio signals that interfered. I could open the door, but not close it, with the remote unit. I took out the bulb, and it worked fine. Reply Tom says: January 25, 2018 at 10:37 pm This worked for me too. Thanks! Joseph says: September 11, 2015 at 10:24 am I contacted support and worked with them for a while. It was determined the board was bad. So both the green light on the receiving and the amber light on the sending units are not on. You mentioned that the amber light should always be on. Does that mean that there is something else wrong with the sending unit.
Thank you, Angie F Reply DJR says: December 16, 2015 at 5:28 pm The door goes down as far as the sensor then goes back up and then the light blinks. Both sensors are solid. Checked to make sure the green is steady and it is. What makes it go as far as the sensor then go back up. Only does it about 50% of the time. The other 50% it works fine. Reply ervin sloboda says: May 24, 2016 at 5:38 pm when the door goes down to the sensors and goes back up. Make sure you didn’t do what I did. Left the rope hanging loose and it would get in the path of the beam. Felt real dumb. Reply pman19 says: February 13, 2016 at 6:08 pm just changed out my sensors.Reply Patrick says: May 14, 2016 at 10:46 am Perfect. It has been driving me crazy for a month. Now we have the fix. I have changed the sensors and reversed them with no success. I have cleaned the lenses with no success. The thing I noticed today, the green light is flickering when the door is open, it’s like it’s on AC. When the door is closed, it is solid. When it is a cloudy day or nite, it works fine. The sun isn’t even hitting the sensors. So I’m guessing the next thing is the board or get a bigger hammer!! Reply Howard says: December 10, 2016 at 4:52 pm For people who believe the circuit board needs replacement. See below Reply Jeff Norris says: December 20, 2016 at 3:39 pm The repair worked just as prescribed. I politely asked him to leave, pulled up this site and made the proper repair. Works just like brand new. Reply Greg says: January 30, 2017 at 9:25 pm Thank you. That did it. Reply Abrian White says: March 15, 2017 at 6:15 pm It worked. You are thee best!!! Reply John R Jellum says: April 13, 2017 at 4:53 pm Same problem on no close. Rec sensor lit but not alined. Thanks for the help.
Reply Chelsea says: April 18, 2017 at 8:49 pm So I was working on a commercial liftmaster door and I tried adjusting the sensors and nothing happened. I called tech support and they said it was probably the circuit board but I wanted to be sure. The master light blinks 5 times and the radio light stays solid amber. The light went off while adjusting the emitter sensor but at first but after I couldn’t get the light to go out again even when I pushed the radio button on the board itself. Any ideas? Is it actually the circuit board. Reply Christophe Bobda says: April 20, 2017 at 10:29 am Wonderfull hint. Thanks so much. My garage would not close with the remote. This has been going on for 2 month. I always have to close from the switch. After reading this post, I went and check the sensor alignment. I figure out the screw holding the sender was loose and it was facing down. I put it back and everything is working just fine. I spent no more than 1 minute on it. Thanks again for saving me money and time Reply Steve Ussery says: May 6, 2017 at 9:58 pm My girlfriend called the garage door company to come out and look at the garage door opener with same problem.
